From fledgling army post dating back to 1850 and named after Lt. Col Abraham Charles Myers, to vibrant and elegnat resort, you can trace the developments of the last 150 years at Fort Myers Historical Museum.
The crown jewels of Fort Myers historical homes has to be the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, located in 14 acres of botanical gardens on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River. A guided tour of these imposing rustically furnished homes gives an insight into the friendship forged between these giants of American innovation.
Sports enthusiastics have terrific opportunities in Fort Myers - apart from the obvious water activities that abound, baseball fans flock to Fort Myers each spring to watch the Boston Red Socks and the Minnesota Twins in spring training or you can always go and watch the local ice-hockey, basketball, baseball or American football teams in action.
